First published in 2023, Gifts for Grandad helps Muslim children and their families navigate bereavement through faith.
Following Ali as he comes to terms with the loss of his grandfather, the book gently shows how faith can bring comfort, and how meaningful acts and intentions can continue to benefit loved ones in the Aakhirah.
The book brings together Islamic guidance and professional expertise in supporting children through grief, with input from Dr Hadeel Aloloum, a psychotherapist with an MSc in Family Therapy from King’s College London, whose expertise helped shape the book’s approach. It was also reviewed by Shaykh Murtaza Alidina, Shaykh Afzal Merali and Shaykh Ali Abbas Malik of The World Federation’s Islamic Education Department.
